We are all guilty of referring to IT cabling systems at Cat 5e, Cat 6 or some other "Cat". However, these only relate to the Categories in USA Standards. In the UK and Europe, we have the BS EN 50173 series of standards. These refer to "Classes" of IT cabling systems. Class D is virtually equivalent to Cat 5e, Class E to Cat 6, Class Ea to Cat 6a and Class F to Cat 7.
