New buildings are designed and built to prevent fires spreading. However, it's not uncommon for cowboy data cablers to neglect firestopping because, once the premises have been handed over to the client, no one inspects the workmanship.
Clients seeking quotations for data cabling must always get the installers guarantee that all firestopping will be reinstated to meet the fire regulations, and ask the installer to indicate the firestopping.
